Pool Updates
Posted on 08-14-20

Updated August 14, 2020 - Beginning Friday, August 28 the pool hours Monday through Friday will be 2-4:30 and 5-8pm.  Weekends (and Labor Day) will remain 11-1; 2-4; and 5-8.

Pool reservations have also been increased from 36-45.

Updated August 4, 2020 - Pool reservations have been increased from 30 to 36.

Updated August 2, 2020 - Pool reservations have been increased from 24 to 30.

Updated July 23, 2020 - Effective this past Monday, we restricted all reservation edits. You can no longer delete or change a reservation on the same day or the day prior.  All reservations changed must be made 2 days prior (example:  Saturday reservations can only be edited/deleted Thursday or prior.) What we have learned is that some residents were making a reservation, showing up, and then once inside deleting their reservation. Others would reserve a slot as a way to "hold it" and then if something else came up they would cancel it an hour prior.  There's no perfect system and we continue to watch and adjust to ensure fairness for all.

Updated July 18, 2020 - Pool reservations have been increased from 16 to 24.

Updated July 9, 2020 - Mask Usage w Level 3 Lorain County

Now that Lorain County have moved to a level 3, red county for COVID 19, Pool Patrons will need to wear face coverings if they are unable to consistently maintain a distance of six feet or more from individuals who are not members of their household. Members not of the same household should not be together unless they are wearing masks.

Please take extra precaution to remain 6 feet apart.

If you are asked to separate at the pool (either on the deck or in the pool,) please respectfully separate. It is very difficult for our employees to know if you are in the same family. If they see's 8 kids together, it is highly likely they are not from the same family. Come together stay together is no longer an option. You must be from the same family to sit together and be within 6 feet of each other once inside.

Note: Children under 10 are not required to wear a mask.

Updated July 8, 2020 -  Math Reasoning for Pool Reservations Limits and Fairness.

Feel free to blow a hole in this line of thinking, but something to consider when trying to give everyone a fair change at reservations.  There are roughly 51 days the pool will be open. Each day there are 3 sessions. Per session, there are currently 25 slots available for reservations. So, 25*3 is 75, 75*51 = 3,825 available slots for reservations.  There are 16 slots provided to each person. Assume that only 1/3 of the 900 homes sign a waiver and ask to make reservation. 300*16 = 4,800.  If 1/2 of the 900 homes sign a waiver and ask to make reservations, it goes 450*16 = 7,200.  It feels like for now, 16 per home is fair, but we are still watching how reservations are booking. If reservations are down, it increases you chances to just walk in.

Updated July 6, 2020 - Increase Max Capacity

With a good showing on our ability to social distance, the max capacity has been increased to 35 effective immediately.  This is likely not going to go any higher.

Updated July 4, 2020  -  Per Slot Reservation Modification

We are learning as we go and now that we are 4 days in, we feel we have enough information to modify some things.  Here are the changes:

Use all available spots for reservations is not the best way to go.  There are enough walk-ups and/or reservation errors that we need some spaces to be available. Starting Tuesday, July 7th with the afternoon time slot, a maximum of 25 spots will be available for reservation.  That will leave 5 slots for walk-ins.

Q: Can we bring our own regular chair for non-water person?

A: Gloria, we ask that you do not bring your own chairs. There are more chairs than the max allowed. We do that so if a group leaves 1 hour into a session, a new group could come in without a set of furniture needing to be sanitized.

Anyone inside the fenced area counts toward the max capacity, regardless if they intend to go into the pool.

Two questions:

Q. Is it still 16 spots available to reserve per person, or is that being adjusted?
A. Cuirrently, as of July 5, there is a limit of 16 spots per signup for reservations. That was a starting point to keep individuals from reserving every slot, every day, and then deciding whether or not they want to show up. As we learn, we will adjust and we do intent to issue more slots this summer. We're not sure when, but as we watch reservations, if we see spots are going unreserved, we will add more to everyone's bank or we'll just reset every back to 16.

Q. If the pool has to close because of weather, do you get those “reservation spots” back to use another time?
A. That's the idea. We will go in and delete those reservations for that slot so they become available when we know a slot was closed due to weather. It would help to email "admin@waterburyhoa.com" when that happens as we don't always get reports from lifeguards when that happens.
